Did you know you are closer to retirement than you ever have been? But do you have enough time between now and then to hang up the boots?

Hey everyone welcome to another SMP Relatable. In a previous vlog, I went through a simple retirement calculator to see how your nest egg is tracking. It often shocks people to see how far away they are from their goal. But it still surprises me how many people say “retirements years away, I’ve got plenty of time.”

So let’s look at saving for retirement whilst we have time. Think about how much money you saved last year, multiply that by how many years you have left in the workforce. What did you come up with? Is it anywhere near the $50,000 a year the government says we need to live a modest lifestyle? Was it zero? Some of you might even be in the negatives.

If you’re thinking there’s no hope or If you’re looking at the numbers and they don’t add up. Don’t bury your head in the sand and accept you might not be the one who can fix it. My team and I work with people every day who thought they would never save a deposit for their first home, who thought they would never pay off their home loan and who thought retirement meant pension.
